Keynote Speaker: Mr. Tad Edwards
Tad Edwards was born into the A.G. Edwards family as Benjamin F. Edwards IV in 1955. He grew up in St. Louis and went on to graduate from Trinity University in Deerfield, Illinois. Tad also completed executive and business programs from both Washington University and Wharton.
Edwards joined the Human Resources department of A.G. Edwards in 1977 and was named employment manager four years later. In 1986, he became a financial advisor at the firm’s Frontenac office where he was elevated to associate branch manager in 1990. In 1995, Tad was promoted to regional officer of the Central Region, where he oversaw the operation of 40 offices in the states of Illinois and Indiana. He was then promoted to director of Sales and Marketing and became president on March 1, 2001. Edwards is currently branch manager of the A. G. Edwards – Town & Country office, the firm’s fourth largest, where he works with a select group of clients. Tad served as a member of the Board of Directors of A.G. Edwards & Sons from 1995 until 2007, when the firm was purchased by Wachovia Securities.
A.G. Edwards has a long-standing history in St. Louis, beginning as a brokerage in the financial district in 1887. As one of the world’s largest investment firms, A. G. Edwards and its affiliates encompassed more than 7,000 financial consultants in over 700 offices throughout the U.S., as well as London, England. In 2007, A. G. Edwards made its 10th consecutive appearance on the “100 Best Companies to Work For in America” list in Fortune Magazine.
In addition to his work at A. G. Edwards, Tad was appointed to the Securities Industry Association’s Board of Directors in 1998 for a 3-year term. He also serves on the advisory boards of Sunshine Ministries, Bethesda Hospital and Homes, and The Prayer Breakfast for Greater St. Louis. Tad is a board member of Cass Information Systems and served on the Board of Directors for the Urban League of St. Louis from 1982-1988.
Tad, his wife, Catherine, and their two children make their home in St. Louis. |
